you can't actually see aft into the cargo compartment, theres a barrier. There were 4 crew members, which implies that its a long (12 hours +) flight. The cockpit and jumpseat cabin resemble the MD-11, except for the pilot jumping down out of a bunk. The one that buys into the South Pacific is supposed to be an MD-11. which bears a striking resemblance to LAX). The first plane is an A300 (the one outta Moscow. i´m aware that this topic is an older one but i just wanted to share some of my thoughts. hmm, dunno.ĭoes anyone has an idea what fedex flights pass the south pacific, do they go the AUS and NZ? and so i think, if they would have sent him to malaysia, they wouldn´t let him crash near the cook islands and tahiti because that doesn´t make sense.Īlthough fedex #88 obviously goes to malaysia.
#Cast away fedex movie
anyway, the makers of this movie did quite a good job not giving us too much info about the plane so that no one can be really sure what plane it actually was. but i don´t think that he took a flight to malaysia.

i remember that he said something about him going to malaysia, but wasn´t that supposed to be after a break when he comes back? there was still something with south america.

Ok, regarding the thing that he went to malaysia. I think it´s been an MD-11 because it´s the most logical conclusion. in moscow and memphis, except for the ending, they only showed airbusses which easily leads to the conclusion that he boarded an a-300, but.īut wasn´t there a flight engineer? that would hint at the DC-10, if it really was an engineer. I´m not sure about any winglets or if the engine which exploded was the tail engine but i think you guys got it right, i trust you on that so it looks if it was a MD-11.īut although one is lead to think that he enters an a-300 (couldn´t it have been an a-310?) it is not shown and not mentioned which plane he enters. Ok, it can´t be an MD-10, because in 1995, when hanks aka as chuck noland goes on this flight, there wasn´t any MD-10s. Quite late, i know, but we get the movies a little later in germany.
